The Lounge is a separate extended-care service for current Lux Learning Center students. Morning Lounge runs from 8:00–9:00 AM and evening Lounge runs from 4:00–5:00 PM. Lounge time is separate from the Independent Study Program and does not extend instructional or academic-support hours.

The Lounge

A little more flexibility around your Lux Learning Center schedule.

The Lounge gives current Lux Learning Center families an optional extended-care option before and after scheduled program hours.

Morning Lounge is available from 8:00–9:00 AM, and evening Lounge is available from 4:00–5:00 PM. Families may use the applicable window when it fits around their student’s scheduled Lux Learning Center program time.

Lounge time is separate from the Independent Study Program. Students do not participate in independent study coursework, tutoring, teacher-guided learning, or other academic support during Lounge hours.

Families may choose regular monthly Lounge access or use drop-in extended care when needed. Students must be registered for The Lounge before attending.

Lounge Hours

Two simple extended-care windows.

The Lounge is available for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening, separate from scheduled Independent Study Program time.

Funding note: The Lounge is paid separately by families. Charter school funds may not be used to pay for Lounge fees.

Drop-In Lounge

Use The Lounge when you need it without committing to a monthly plan.

Drop-in extended care is available to registered Lux Learning Center families with same-day notice. Each one-hour Lounge window is $10.

Safety & Supervision

Students remain supervised while participating in The Lounge.

The Lounge is designed around clear supervision, screened adults, and a consistent pickup process so families know where their student is and who is responsible for them.

Supervised Environment

Students remain supervised throughout their applicable Lounge period.

Screened Staff & Volunteers

Lux Learning Center staff and volunteers who have access to students are fingerprinted and background checked.

Recorded Sign-Out

Parents and guardians sign their student out at pickup and record the pickup time. For drop-in families, that recorded time is used for billing.

Pickup & Late Policy

Evening Lounge closes at 5:00 PM, with a limited grace period for occasional delays.

The late-pickup policy gives families reasonable flexibility for an occasional delay while protecting a consistent closing time for Lounge staff.

5:00 PM Closing

Regular evening Lounge hours end at 5:00 PM
Families receive a 15-minute grace period for occasional late pickups
Pickup time is documented at sign-out

Late Pickup Fee

Pickups after 5:15 PM are charged $5 for every 5 minutes
The fee applies in addition to any applicable drop-in charge
The grace period is intended for occasional delays, not routine extended care

Repeated Late Pickups

After a family’s fifth pickup after 5:00 PM during a semester, the 15-minute grace period is removed
For future late pickups that semester, the $5-per-5-minute fee begins immediately after 5:00 PM
Late-pickup counts reset in January for the second semester
